1995’s Painting, Pascal Simonpietri

Born in Corsica, Pascal Simonpietri (1958-2008) translates through signs his admiration for expressionism into an instinctive pictorial gesture. His vocabulary and tangy playful figures speak of life as he imagines it, both tender and restless, yet generous like the broad spectrum of his palette. With his sincere and authentic approach to painting, the CoBra Movement seems to be coming back to life imbued with optimism. Simonpietri was a very discreet figure of the Figuration Libre Mouvement during the 1980’s, and a close friend of painters Di Rosa and Albert Chubac.
