Beso Uznadze
Beso Uznadze (b. 1968, Tbilisi, Georgia) began his artistic career as a portrait photographer, developing a practice distinguished by its psychological depth. His photographs transcend likeness, revealing the vulnerability, resilience, and inner presence of his sitters. Through an almost imperceptible bond between artist and subject, each portrait invites the viewer into the silent dialogue that unfolded before the camera.
In 2016, Uznadze turned to painting, embracing an entirely new visual language. His monumental abstract canvases extend the emotional inquiry that has always defined his work. Built through rhythmic mechanical gestures and the interplay of angular and rounded forms, his compositions possess both structural rigor and profound sensitivity. While they may evoke familiar traditions of abstraction, they remain deeply personal, shaped by the artist’s own emotional landscape.
Whether working in photography or painting, Uznadze pursues the same essential objective: to dissolve narrative, surrender to the creative process, and transform deeply personal experience into a universal emotional space.
